What is TX-YDSRN ?
Texas Youth Depression and Suicide Research Network (TX-YDSRN) was developed to support research on youth depression and suicide in Texas.
TX-YDSRN is part of the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium, TCMHCC, a statewide initiative created to improve child and adolescent mental health care in Texas.
TX-YDSRN connects a Hub team with 12 health related academic institutions across Texas to support research that can improve how depression and suicide risk are identified, monitored, and treated over time.
Who Can Participate?
TX-YDSRN recruitment occurs through participating clinics and Nodes. Youth can participate if they meet the following criteria:
- 1 Youth ages 8 through 20
- 2 Are receiving care for depression, or screen positive for depression and/or suicidality at a participating clinic
- 3 Can dedicate time to in-person and/or virtual study visits
- 4 Speak English and/or Spanish
What to Expect
Participation generally includes research questionnaires and interviews, collected at enrollment and at follow-up time points, with the goal of learning how symptoms and outcomes change over time.
A brief consent process
You review the study information, ask questions, and decide whether to participate. Participation is voluntary.
Check ins over time
You may be asked to complete surveys, and during some of the visits, a study staff member may complete an interview or assessment with you. Visits can be remote and try to accommodate your schedule.
Compensation
You will be compensated for each completed visit. The study team will provide specific payment information during your first visit.
Privacy and data safeguards
Your information is handled with research privacy protections. The study team will explain what is collected, how it is stored, and who can access it.
