Bio

Israel Liberzon, MD, is a founding Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at Texas A&M University. Dr. Liberzon previously established the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) program at the Ann Arbor Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. He also led the Trauma, Stress, and Anxiety Research Group (TSARG); Psychiatric Affective Neuroimaging Laboratory; Veteran’s Affairs fMRI research facility; and Stress Neurobiology laboratory at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Liberzon’s primary research interest centers on emotions, stress, and stress-related disorders, like PTSD. In particular, his work focuses on the regulation and dysregulation of the stress response.
